anyone else besides myself affected by these? Half of San Diego is burning right now fortunately I'm in the half that isn't burning, but it may be soon.

Anyone else live near the areas like me or am I alone out West? Razz

My Aunts and Uncles on both sides have been forced to evacuate. Lost contact with them last night. Still waiting to hear if their homes are okay. Sad

A lot of people I work with are out in San Diego as that's where our headquarters is. Nearly everyone I know was in the forced evacuation part of town, but that's in Rancho Bernardo. Haven't received any updates yet. One guy had the fires about 100yds from his back yard, so for him it's not very promising. Sad

Hopefully you won't have to evacuate Almost.

RB got hit hard, from whats been shown on the news here RB and Poway are devastated, one of the news reporters was broadcasting his own house burning down before him =/.

I'm not in the evacuated part..yet, live in Carlsbad the fire is still many miles away, but its entirely dependent on the wind. Reverse 911 called my house and said prepare to evac but it isnt mandatory, and I won't be leaving until I know exactly whats up

Yeah, sorry about your family out there Coag. They'll be OK. I know the phones out there are a mess right now. As with all my co-workers, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your relatives.

And yeah, RB is wiped out. The hotel I usually stay at when I travel out there is the Rancho Bernardo Inn(RBI). According to the news maps, it along with the golf course is firmly in the fire area. It was mostly a wood structure, so I imagine it's just embers now. It's going to be weird when I finally have to head back out there.

Usually only 2-3 times a year. Not a lot. I usually went to the Elephant Bar after work, and I heard from someone out there that the houses right behind it were already burning down. I'm guessing it's gone now. That's too bad too because they usually had some really good Happy Hour specials! Very Happy

That's pretty close too, was there place alright?

Good news is all the fires turned back east and they're burning into the mountains/desert so SD is fine now, all the mountain towns might be in for it though

Yeah, last I heard on Wednesday night is that the winds changed and the fires weren't moving towards them anymore. Which was good, since one set of aunt and uncle had the fire less than 3 miles from their house when they evacuated. My heart goes out to all those people who weren't as lucky. Sad

Worst i've heard so far from my co-workers out there is that one guy lost a couple trees in his back yard. Grass is burned halfway through his backyard, but his house is fine. That's a close one! He seemed up beat about it all though saying it gave him a good reason to go buy a chainsaw now.

A good number of folks have been allowed to move back into there homes, so it sounds like they're pretty much OK now.

Hope your aunts and uncles places are all OK Coag.

Looks like my Aunt and uncle are safe. They live in a suburb of LA. Looks like any fires that made it near there went around them.

Yeah, my parents live in the San Fernando valley so they're safe from the fires but the smoke is starting to annoy them. I was down there this past weekend, the 2nd day of the fires and there was just tons of smoke everywhere. It's starting to get better though, i think the worst is over.
